Updated September 2008
The privacy of our users is a priority at i.TV. We have developed a Customer Privacy Policy that lays out guidelines relating to the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information that may be collected by i.TV anytime users interact with i.TV or any i.TV applications.
Why we collect personal information
We collect your personal information because it helps us deliver a better social entertainment experience. It enables us to give you convenient access to our content and services and deliver what is of greatest interest to you. In addition, your personal information helps us keep you posted on the latest entertainment announcements, updates, special offers, and shows that you might find interesting.
What information do we collect?
There are a number of situations in which your personal information may help us give you better products and services. For example:
- When you interact with i.TV, we collect personal information relevant to the situation including but not limited to your favorites, your friends, your television and movie rankings, reviews, and your viewing preferences.
- When registering or ordering content through i.TV, as appropriate, you may be asked to enter your name, e-mail address, billing address, phone number or credit card information. I.TV does not store any credit card information, however some of our partners may do so in order to create a better user experience for future purchases.
- We also collect information for market research purposes – aggregated information which does not identify you specifically but does provide viewing preferences and patterns – to gain a better understanding of the i.TV users and thus provide better services.
- We collect information regarding customer activities on our website, i.TV, our iPhone application and i.TV on other platforms. This helps us to determine how best to provide useful information to customers and to understand which services are of most interest to them.
- Like most websites, we use cookies and/or web beacons to enhance your experience, gather general visitor information, and track visits to our website and understand which parts of our website are most popular, where our visitors are going, and how much time they spend there. We use cookies to study traffic patterns and to customize your experience and provide greater convenience each time you interact with i.TV.
What do we use your information for?
We collect personal information to provide products that you have requested as well as for auditing, research, and analysis to improve i.TV’s products. Any of the information we collect from you may be used in the following ways:
- To personalize your experience. (Your information helps us to better respond to your individual needs.)
- To improve our website and applications. (We continually strive to improve our website and i.TV application offerings based on the information and feedback we receive from you.)
- To process transactions. Your information, whether public or private, will not be sold, exchanged, transferred, or given to any other company for any reason whatsoever, without your consent, other than for the express purpose of delivering the purchased product or service requested. However we reserve the right to provide aggregated information to third-parties for marketing purposes. This information will not be associated with any individuals, but will be information from groups of users showing trends and patterns.
- To administer a contest, promotion, survey or other site feature.
- To send periodic emails. The email address you provide for order processing, may be used to send you information and updates pertaining to your order, in addition to receiving occasional company news, updates, related product or service information, etc. Note: If at any time you would like to unsubscribe from receiving future emails, we include unsubscribe instructions at the bottom of each email.
At times we may be required by law or litigation to disclose your personal information. We may also disclose information about you if we determine that for national security, law enforcement, or other issues of public importance, disclosure is necessary.
Publicly displayed information is public
If you use a bulletin board, forum or other public venue on an i.TV website or application you should be aware that any information you share is visible to other users. Personally identifiable information you submit to forums can be read, collected, or used by other individuals to send you unsolicited messages. i.TV is not responsible for the personally identifiable information you choose to submit in these forums or through writing reviews. Each i.TV application provides social interactions and allows you to determine what you share and with whom. For example, if you choose to make information, which was previously non-public, available by enabling certain user features, i.TV will collect that information from your interaction and the information will become publicly available.
Kids - Legal Protections
Some user information is collected electronically and it may be difficult to determine the age of a particular user. However we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 for marketing purposes. If a child under 13 submits personal information to i.TV and we are made aware of this, we will attempt to remove the information as soon as possible.
How we protect your personal information
We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of your personal information when you place an order to safeguard your personal information against loss, theft, and misuse, as well as unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction.
The i.TV website uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) encryption on all web pages where personal information is required. All supplied sensitive/credit information is transmitted via Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology and then encrypted into the Payment gateway providers database of vendor partners only to be accessible by those authorized with special access rights to such systems, and are required to keep the information confidential.
